M.S.R.T.C. stands for Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation. State Government of Maharashtra established M.S.R.T.C. as per the provision in Section 3 of RTCAct 1950. Through the approved scheme of Road Transport Published vide Notification MVA 3173/30303-XIIA dated 29.11.1973 in the official gazette, the services of M.S.R.T.C. is being operated by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation.
The entire area of the State of Maharashtra is covered by the scheme. Except S.T. undertaking defined under Section 68 A (b) of M. V. Act and other exception published in the scheme, the undertaking is operating stage and contract carriage services in the entire area of the state of Maharashtra. The confluence of three streams for providing passenger road transport in the public sector is represented by the Present Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation. In 1948, first bus having been flagged off from the Pune to Ahmednagar. Now it has 16,000-odd buses, 1,01,000 employees, and about 65 lakh citizens are utilizing the service daily.
Public bus service is provided by MSRTC, Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation in the state of Maharashtra and to its neighboring states like Karnataka, Rajasthan, Goa, and Madhya Pradesh. MSRTC has a fleet of about 16,000 buses.

- MSRTC Mahabus: An A/C MSRTC bus service operating between Pune and Mumbai
- MSRTC Asiad: Asiad is a semi-luxury MSRTC bus service that runs from Dadar
Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has been started up online ticket booking facility for their customers and travelers in January 2010.
Register for Buying MSRTC Bus Tickets Online:
Since they have started-up in January-2010, over 40,000 users have used the online ticket booking facility. Those 40,000 users are the regular customers/travelers, who are purchasing their tickets regular as they have registered on the official website of MSRTC. As a Guest member, over 10,000 logged in to buy tickets online using official website of MSRTC.
MSRTC Online Reservation facility at Bus Stand:
39 Bus Stand have Online Reservation facility service at preset in Maharashtra. According to M.S.R.T.C., 327 bus stand will have Online Bus tickets Reservation facility in Maharashtra by this year end. Now, with the use of your mobile handset, you can purchase bus tickets. M.S.R.T.C. has started advanced facility to purchase bus tickets online using your mobile from 23 March 2010.

For logging in at public.msrtcors.com, enter your user name and password then click on “login” option. If you are new member, then click on “new user” option. Enter your personal details such as first name, last name, gender, date of birth, mobile number, and landline numbers, residential details such as address, country, state, city, and pin-code, and login details such as user name, email id, password, re-enter password, select hint question, enter hint answer, for confirmation, type the security code like the image, then click on “proceed” option.
E-ticket booking Bus services are available at Bus stations, which are situated at Nagpur, Amravati, Aurangabad, Nashik, Pune, Mumbai, Thane and Pandharpur. For e-booking, at present 2383 trips are available out of which, 850 trips are Long Distance, 1283 are Medium Long Distance & 250 are Short Distance trips. About 10,000 trips departing from 327 important bus stations will be made available for e-ticketing in near future. You can reserve your e-ticket through internet before one month from expected journey date, excluding date of journey. Seat reservation booking facility will be closed before one hour on proposed journey date and schedule departure time of bus service or up to the time of printing of reservation chart, which ever is earlier.
E-ticket booking/cancellation timings are 00:30 To 23:30 IST. To search Boarding (from stop)/Destination (to stop) name or code, enter at-least three letters of bus station name or bus stop name in “from stop”/“to stop” field on screen and click the search button. After this, view window will be pop up with matching bus station names & bus stops. By clicking on the bus stop code, you can select desired bus stop from this view window.
For e-ticket booking, concessional fare tickets are not allowed. Before issuing the ticket, it requires verification of documents. Concessional fare tickets can be booked at MSRTC bus stations or from any authorized booking agents. You can cancel your e-ticket before 2 calendar days from journey date. If journey date is 3rd Oct., then the e-ticket can be cancelled up to 1st Oct, during working hours. No refund (Zero refund) will be given after expiry of permissible time of cancellation. To cancel e-ticket, once you Login, go to ‘My TICKETS’ link on the left navigation bar, select ticket to be cancelled and click on ‘Cancel’ link.
In case if e-ticket is cancelled within permissible time limit, 100% refund of basic fare will be refunded. Reservation charges and convenience charges including government service tax charge are non refundable. The refund of basic fare will be made through respective bank A/c only and no cash refund will be given to passenger in case of change in bus service, cancellation of bus service, breakdown of bus service, fare difference due to fare cut. Passengers have to submit e-ticket print out to the Depot Manager of respective MSRTC Depot for getting refund. Depot Manager will initiate the refund procedure with Payment Gateway company & the refund will be received by the passenger automatically within a week. If not, mail details like “Transaction Id” as displayed on your e-ticket & date of submission of e-ticket to depot manager to email@example.com & firstname.lastname@example.org.
Refund of fare will be made through respective bank account only. No cash refund will be given to passengers. For cancellation of e-ticket, submit e-ticket information on screen provided on the site. Once you have booked your e-ticket, you will not be allowed to change the date and time of journey. You cannot replace the name, gender, age, etc. In such case you will have to cancel e-ticket first and re-book with the desired date, time, etc.
