Recalls.gov: Your online Resource for Recalls

Six federal agencies with vastly different jurisdictions have joined together and created www.recalls.gov, a “one stop shop” for U.S. Government recalls to provide better service in alerting the American people to unsafe, hazardous or defective products. At www.recalls.gov, safety comes first on purchasing and using products. Users have vital safety information available whenever and wherever they need it, right on their mobile phone through the recalls.gov mobile application. Due to safety concern, you can learn immediately whether that product has been recalled by typing a product’s name into your phone, whether you are at your child’s day care center or a yard sale, whether you are at a store or at home. So, stay informed, stay safe, check for product recalls.

When you visit www.Recalls.gov, you will see the navigation like “Consumer Products”, “Motor Vehicles”, “Boats”, “Food”, “Medicine”, “Cosmetics”, and “Environmental Products”. Follow the tabs above to obtain the latest recall information, to report a dangerous product, or to learn important safety tips. You can also know about the recent recalls, search for recalls, and sign up for e-mail at www.Recalls.gov. This website is available in two languages like English and Spanish.

Consumer Products:

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has jurisdiction over 15,000 types of customer products, which are used in and around the home, in sports, recreation and schools including:

• Appliances
• Clothing
• Electronic/electrical
• Furniture
• Household
• Children’s products
• Lighting/lighter
• Outdoor
• Sports/exercise

In Consumer Products navigation, you can know about CPSC Recalls, Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), you can do Product Search and Look for a general recalled product type, Product Description Search and Look for a specific recalled product, including words that may be on it or its packaging, Company Search and Look for recalls involving a specific company, also you can Join CPSC’s Email Subscription List, and Report unsafe products to CPSC.

Motor Vehicles:

Recall information including vehicle and equipment campaigns are provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the U.S. Department of Transportation from 1966 to present. The campaigns contain motor vehicle products, which experienced a safety-related defect or did not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards:

• Tires

Boats:

Consumer complaints about recreational boats and related equipment are investigated by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). You can get review safety tips, news, recalls, defects, and laws and regulations by dealing with:

Current Alerts: Important advisories issued by the U.S. Coast Guard to all boaters or anyone on or near the water. Food:

Latest information on all food recalls and alerts as well as food illness outbreaks are provided at FoodSafety.gov.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has jurisdiction over recalls involving the following:

Environmental Products:

Leadership in the nation’s environmental science, research, education and assessment efforts are provided by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). EPA has jurisdiction over recalls involving:

• Rodenticides
• Fungicides
• Vehicle emission testing

To search for Recalls, click on “Search for Recall” option. After clicking on this option, you will get the page of search, where according to navigation you can search for recalls, like CPSC Recalls, FDA Recalls, FSIS Recalls, NHTSA Recalls, EPA Pesticide Recalls, EPA Vehicle Emissions Recalls, and USCG Boating Safety Recalls. You can search by product type/company product description. Just enter the product type or required information and click on “go” option.

Sign up for E-mail:

To receive new recalls and safety information electronically, enroll to this free service by signing up for direct notification of recalls from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Food & Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. If you have signed up, then a message (depending on the list you are joining) may be sent to the email address you enter, asking you to confirm your subscription by replying to the message. Your email address will not be disclosed for any use other than the intended purpose of sending safety-related information.

Sign up for different recalls such as Subscribe to CPSC’s Recalls, Subscribe to FDA Recalls, Subscribe to the FSIS Email Subscription System, Sign up to receive e-mail recall notifications for tires, child restraints, all vehicles, motorcycles, and school buses.
