Would you like to know more about your political leader? Of course, every voter wants to know more about their political representatives as well how they functioned when selected in election. Some IIT B alumni and students had done a great job by creating a social venture to provide the information about the Indian political arena. This social venture is Netapedia.in and it is also known as the Wikipedia of Indian politicians. The core idea behind the creation of this site is providing the political news, details of the politicians, and analysis to fulfill the needs of the voters for making an informed decision. The site aims to be an educative, interactive and informative online tool about important political events and Indian politicians and to increase knowledge about important national issues.
Netapedia provides the authentic profiles of political leaders of India on the basis of affidavits which they have filed before the elections, together with the ‘Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme’ (MPLADS) summary of every members of parliament (MPs). Most of the information about the political leaders is derived from the manuscripts submitted by them and manuscripts from the present office held by the concerned person. You can even discover the most recent news on politics of India containing a range of analysis on Indian politicians and politics. The analysis is provided by some external experts or by the team itself. You can find all the authentic information about most important past and present elections and national events, as well give your feedback on that.
How it works?
The netapedia.in provides the information about the existing MPs. At the home page of the site, you can search the information about your MP by entering his/her name directly, or else the option for searching your Neta by selecting the state is also available. Once you select your state, you will be provided with the list of the leaders of your state, then just select your leader and that’s it. You will get all the information about your Neta including Biographical Information, Education Qualification, Legal Records, and Financial Information etc.
At the top navigation of official page, the option ‘Council of Ministers’ is given. Here, you can find the information about the Prime Minister, the Cabinet Ministries and the Ministers of State. The ‘Resources’ toolbar in the top navigation provides the information regarding The Constitution of India, The Parliament, Indian Penal code, RTI (Right to Information Act), and Budget 2011-12. The ‘Contribute’ option is provided there, by using which you can give your feedback about the website.
At present all the services of Netapedia are online devoid of any offline component.
It is expected that the Netapedia team will expand all the existing information and features available for the MPs and will even provide the information for the MLAs at the state level. As well, there is a planning to set up the features for comparing the candidates and MPs/MLAs.
