The official website of the World’s famous Amritsar Golden Temple is www.sgpc.net. S.G.P.C. stands for Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. Under the provisions of Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925, Voters who are registered and of 18+ can elect Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee by voting system. Under Section 87 of this act, SGPC controls all the Historical Gurdwaras as well as Gurdwaras. SGPC elections conducted in every five years. Another name of SGPC is Parliament of the Sikh Nation. Educational institutions like Medical colleges, Hospitals and many charitable trusts are also managed by the management of Gurdwaras.

www.sgpc.net provides Hukamnama, Ardas, Kirtan Archives, Kirtan Duties, Books Information, Online Publications, Sarai information, SGPC news and Time Schedule, Historical Dates, Live Audio and Recorded Kirtan.

Hukm means command or order and namah means letter, together means the letter which is sent by Sikh Gurus to their Sikhs or sangats (worshippers) in different parts of the country during the period of the Ten Gurus between 1469 and 1708. In the presence of the Sikh Holy Scripture, Sri Guru Granth Sahib, Shabd {hymn} that read after the Ardas prayer is known as Hukamnama. It is considered as a Guru’s Hukam. From the official website of the golden temple, you can also sign up for the daily Hukumnama NewsLetter. It also allows you to download font and print Hukumnama. They provide Hukumnama in two languages in English and Punjabi. You can also read previous Hukumnamas by selecting date from the Hukamnama Archives, which is given on the bottom of the Hukumnama page.

This website also provides Ardas which is basic religious activity in Sikh Religion. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee publishes “ARDAS” in the series of exemplified books. Two publications of ARDAS, “Episode of Chamkaur Sahib” & “Supreme Sacrifice of Young Sons” have earned successes & been awarded prizes. You can also see the Live video and recorded Kirtan from Sri Harmandir Sahib. www.sgpc.net also provides online publication of Gurmat Gyan in Hindi as well as Punjabi version.     SGPC is doing the needed & applaudable job of GURMAT GYAN. It is requested that one email address for SANGAT to interact with SGPC should be functional so that SGPC gets opinion of SANGAT also to improve on present functioning
